What to Expect
Poet & Pour is NOT about becoming a poet. It’s about giving yourself permission to create.
Over one beautiful afternoon, you’ll step away from the noise of everyday life, pour a glass, play with words, and reconnect with the creative part of yourself that may have been buried beneath work, family, responsibility and the pressure to get everything right.
Through playful writing experiences, honest conversation and gentle creative challenges, you’ll discover that you don’t need to be “creative enough” or know anything about poetry to make something meaningful.
Come exactly as you are. Leave with words you didn’t know were waiting to be written — and a little more courage to use your voice.
❋ No Experience Necessary
You don’t need to be a writer, poet or even someone who considers herself creative. There are no grades, no red pens and absolutely no expectation to write something profound. Curiosity is enough.
❋ Play, Write & Create
Expect playful prompts, word association, paint-chip poetry and other creative exercises designed to get you out of your head and onto the page — without overthinking every bloody word.
❋ Connection & Conversation
Poet & Pour is an event designed for small groups of women, with space to talk, laugh, share and connect. You’ll be invited to share your work if and when it feels right — but you’ll never be forced to perform.
❋ Your Voice, In Print
Every Poet & Pour experience contributes to something bigger: capturing the voices and stories of regional women. Participants will have the opportunity to submit work created through the experience for inclusion in the Poet & Pour digital collection and regional anthology.
