When did you last do something
simply because you wanted to?
Perhaps you used to write, before life got busy.
Perhaps you have a notebook full of thoughts you’ve never shared.
Or perhaps you’d love an afternoon doing something different, but the words “creative writing” make you wonder whether you’d be any good.
You don’t have to arrive feeling confident. Sarah will guide you through the afternoon, one playful activity at a time.
No gold stars. No red pens. Nothing to get perfect.
Here’s what we’ll do
Settle in
Enjoy a beverage and light refreshments, meet the women around you and ease into an afternoon where you don’t have to have all the answers.
Get words flowing
Try approachable writing prompts, wordplay and creative exercises. Sarah will provide examples and guidance, so you’re never left staring at a blank page wondering where to start.
Make room for your own voice
Explore the thoughts, experiences and possibilities you want to put into words, with practical tools for working through perfectionism and creative self-doubt.
Create something of your own
Build towards an original poem or piece of writing. Keep it private or share it with the group—the choice is yours.
Your $179 ticket includes
A three-hour workshop guided by Sarah Dee.
Playful writing activities and practical creative tools.
Your own Poet & Pour companion journal and pen.
A take-home gift bag.
A beverage and light refreshments.
Conversation and connection in a group capped at 15 women.
The opportunity to submit a completed poem for consideration in the Poet & Pour anthology.
You’ll take home your writing, your journal and prompts you can return to when you want to keep creating.
Meet Sarah
I’m Sarah Dee—a poet, educator, author and mother based in Tumut.
I know how easily our own interests can slip to the bottom of the list when we’re busy teaching, working, parenting and keeping life moving.
Poetry has given me a way to express what I couldn’t always say aloud. I created Poet & Pour to help other women explore their own words,
without needing to feel talented, polished or ready first.
I’ll guide you through each activity, share examples from my own writing and help you find a starting point.
You bring yourself. I’ll bring the prompts.
A few things you might be wondering
Do I need to be good at writing?
No. The activities are designed to be accessible, including if you haven’t written creatively since school.
Will I have to read anything aloud?
No. Sharing is always optional, and you can keep your writing private.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely. The small-group format gives you opportunities to meet and chat with other women throughout the afternoon.
What should I bring?
Just yourself. Your journal, pen and writing materials are provided.
Where and when is it?
Saturday 14 November 2026, from 2–5 pm at Belleview Studio, 5 Belleview Drive, Murrumbateman.
Give your own voice an afternoon.
A journal, a little curiosity and three hours that belong to you.

What to Expect
-
No Shakespeare analysis. No confusing literary terminology. No expectation that you already know how to write. Sarah makes poetry accessible, playful and deeply human—even if the last poem you encountered was in Year 9 English.
-
You’ll work through guided prompts, wordplay and unexpected creative exercises designed to quiet your inner critic and get words onto the page. There is no single “right” way to participate or create.
-
Sarah will lead you through every activity, offer practical creative support and share examples from her own work. You’ll be encouraged to experiment—not pressured to perform, share or produce something perfect.
-
Poet & Pour is intimate, warm and intentionally small. You’ll create alongside women who may feel just as nervous, curious or creatively rusty as you do. Sharing your work is always optional.
-
You’ll leave with several pieces of new writing, the beginnings of an original poem, a beautiful journal and practical tools you can continue using whenever fear or perfectionism tries to silence you.
